Post-Renovation Cleaning Checklist for Singapore Offices

A post-renovation clean covers fine dust removal from every surface and fixture, paint and cement spot removal, the insides of built-in cabinets, machine scrubbing of floors, full glass cleaning, and toilet deep cleaning. Schedule it after every trade has finished and before furniture moves in; a typical office or shop unit takes one to two days.

This checklist is written so a tenant, contractor, or office manager can walk a unit with it. If you would rather hand the whole thing to us, our post-renovation cleaning service covers every line below.

Who clears what: contractor versus cleaner

Confusion here causes most handover arguments, so settle it before either party quotes.

The grey zones are protective sheeting and light debris. Ask both parties who handles them, and get it in the quotation.

The zone-by-zone checklist

High level. Air-con vents and grilles, light fittings, cable trunking, tops of cabinets and ledges. Renovation dust settles top-down, so cleaning starts here.

Walls, doors and switches. Dust-wipe all wall surfaces, remove adhesive and tape residue, clean door leaves, frames, handles and switch plates.

Built-ins. Every cabinet, drawer, shelf and wardrobe cleaned inside and out. This is the most commonly skipped item; check it first at handover.

Floors. Vacuum first, then machine scrub or mop by material. Scrape paint, plaster and cement spots; remove grout haze from new tiles. Vinyl and marble may need buffing or polishing as an add-on.

Glass. Windows inside and out where reachable, partitions, mirrors, and the frames and tracks, which hold most of the dust.

Toilets and pantry. Deep clean and sanitise all fittings; acid wash floors and walls where the surface allows it. New sanitary ware often carries a cement film that only an acid wash removes.

When to schedule it

Book once your contractor confirms the completion date, ideally a week ahead. The clean happens after all trades are done, including touch-up painting, and before furniture, stock or staff move in. Cleaning before the painters finish means paying twice.

How long it takes and what drives the price

Most office and retail units take one to two days with a standard crew. Pricing is per job, based on floor area, how much residue the contractors left, and your deadline; a tight handover date means a larger crew, not a missed date. There is no meaningful per-square-foot rate that holds across conditions, which is why we quote after seeing photos or the unit itself.

The five-minute sign-off inspection

Before you accept the handover, check these five things:

  1. Run a finger along the skirting and one high ledge. Both should come back clean.
  2. Open two cabinets and one drawer at random.
  3. Look across the floor against the light for paint spots and haze.
  4. Check glass corners and window tracks, not just the panes.
  5. Flush every toilet and check under the rim and behind the pedestal.

If all five pass, the unit is genuinely handover-ready.
